Novel Obstacles
The potential of a 5k Trail run at BFS was seen through the eyes of someone who loves the great outdoors. I walked, and ran some of the newly minted trails on the BFS grounds in my free time, and was in awe of the quiet splendor in our own backyard. The trails seemed to smile back at me as I ran on some of the more physically demanding sections. It felt right to be dodging obstacles, and searching for adventure on these trails. Complete with novel obstacles from high grass, to rocks to roots, this was a trail run complete with unpredictable footing, and variable gradients. However, the Inaugural BFS Run/Walk for Peace in 2009 lacked one outstanding natural obstacle. And, fortunately, in 2010 we have purposely drawn upon experience, and added (drum roll, please) a stream crossing. Yes, really, truly...a small, albiet real, stream crossing at approximately mile 1. Wear those trail running shoes for stability, traction, and crossing that stream with miraculous ease. Can't wait to see you out there in 2010!
